4 Things an All-Inclusive Vacation Has that Regular Vacations Don’t

Pybus Point Lodge Logo

Many people dream of heading up to the wild Alaskan wilderness to see some of the most beautiful landscapes and participate in some of the most incredible activities. From whale watching and glacier tours to fishing the pristine waters off the coast of one of the places in the world that is still very remote, Alaska has it all.

When it’s time to book your trip, there are a lot of decisions to make. Where do you want to go? Who will come with you? Should you fly first class or economy? Another important question that is definitely going to come up is whether you should choose an all-inclusive Alaskan fishing vacation or one where you have to book all of your travel accommodations and activities on your own.

Let’s go over a few things that an all-inclusive vacation will include that your typical vacation definitely will not. Then we’ll see whether that all-inclusive is the right choice for your Alaskan getaway.

1: Professional Fishing Guides

Alaska is known for many things, but one on the top of most everyone’s list is fishing. When you take a trip to Alaska it’s the perfect opportunity to go out on the ocean and find some of the largest schools of fish in practically untouched waters. From halibut and salmon to the more rare varieties like ling cod, you can find it all off the coast of Alaska.

The problem with a do-it-yourself fishing vacation is that you’ll need to bring along all your fishing gear, from poles and bait to rain jackets and boots. Plus you will have to figure out how to navigate the waters in a rented boat or find a crew that can take you out.

Pybus Point’s all-inclusive fishing trips flip the script so all you need to bring is yourself and a few changes of clothes. We’ll supply the rest, with every detail covered. Our custom-built boats have all the amenities you need for a day on the water, and our experienced guides know exactly where to take the boats to find the day’s catch. We also have the highest quality rods and reels so you won’t have to bring it all with you and make plans to take it home.

That means you can travel light with just your carry-on bag and take back a 50-pound box of cleaned and vacuum-sealed fish as your “checked” luggage on the way home (another thing that’s included in your trip).

2: Resort-Style Accommodations

If the idea of “roughing it” in the Alaskan wilderness appeals to you, then Pybus Point isn’t the place to go. Our resort accommodations were recently renovated so each one now includes comfortable beds, private bathrooms, your own balcony and a thermostat-controlled fireplace. Common areas include all the amenities you’d expect from an all-inclusive, like billiards table, fireplace, television, and tons of movies.

3: Gourmet Food

You probably don’t think about an Alaskan fishing vacation as the place to get an abundance of gourmet food, and with most Alaska vacations that is true. When you stay in a typical lodge you might even be lucky to get hot meals, since most places just focus on the fishing and neglect the rest of your experience.

At Pybus Point Lodge we decided that having gourmet meals—much like resort-style accommodations—can make the best fishing trip of your life even better. We hire incredible chefs that create delicious meals for you to enjoy in the morning before you leave, lunches to take along on your daily excursions, and dinners that will help you refresh and be ready for another day of adventure to come.

All the meals can be catered to your dietary needs and enjoyed in our common areas or in the privacy and comfort of your own cabin. Plus you can find unlimited snacks and soda in the common area anytime day or night.

4: Daily Excursions & Explorations

Even the most devout Alaska fishing enthusiasts don’t always want to spend an entire vacation out on a fishing boat. After all, that means you will be missing out on some of the natural wonders and beauty that you can find on land in Alaska. When you book an all-inclusive vacation at Pybus Point Lodge you get so much more than just a fishing tour.

Our lodge is located on the eastern shore of Admiralty Island, part of the Admiralty Island National Monument inside the vast Tongass National Forest. The lodge overlooks the beautiful waters of Pybus Bay, with access to mainland Alaska and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

It’s nestled in a place known as “Fortress of the Bears” with the world’s highest density of black bears and a significant number of brown bears as well. Other daily excursions available include:

  • Glacier tours
  • Water skiffs and kayaks
  • Freshwater fishing
  • Wildlife photography
  • Hiking
  • Waterfall tours
  • Whale watching

Those lucky enough to book a trip during the famed Northern Lights will get an amazing nighttime show, while others will be lucky enough to see elusive orcas (killer whales).
