At the end of the Tracy Arm fjord you will find the twin North Sawyer and South Sawyer Glaciers. They are accessible by boat from Pybus Point Lodge, and our experienced local experts are the perfect guides on your trip to see the majestic beauty of these natural wonders.
Book NowAs tidewater glaciers, they flow from the mountain peaks above, through a valley down to the ocean. At the edge of the glacier you can often see large chunks calving (breaking off) with a splash and sending smaller icebergs floating into the fjord. When conditions are good our Sawyer Glacier Day Trip tours can get very close to the glacier, providing a perfect view of mountain goats at the base, as well as other wildlife like black and brown bears, harbor seals, and a wide variety of arctic birds. We’ll get as close as we safely can so you can photograph the glacier and wildlife.
You’ll experience some of the most incredible natural beauty of cobalt-blue ice disappearing deep into the sea, towering cliffs on either side of the fjord, and gorgeous waterfalls stretching hundreds of feet above the water. The weather and the water can be unpredictable, so tours may not be available on every day of your trip. Bring warm clothing (hat, jacket, gloves) and a rain-proof cover to stay comfortable on the trip.
Discover why people like you can’t stop talking about Pybus Point Lodge. More than 30 years ago, the lodge opened as a simple fishing camp, drawing a devoted following in spite of basic accommodations. With new owners and experienced captains and crew, our corner of Alaska has become an unbeatable fishing and eco-tourism resort.
