Pybus Point Lodge is located in a very secluded and remote area that is only accessible by float plane or a long boat ride. The lodge islocated on an old commercial salmon cannery site that was set aside as part ofthe Homestead act in 1893. In 1907 much of the surrounding area was designatedthe Tongass National Forest President Theodore Roosevelt, and in 1978 theAdmiralty Island National Monument was created. However, because the canneryproperty was private land attached to the Homestead Act the it was not absorbedinto the National Monument. That means our lodge is in one of the most secludedand beautiful natural areas in the world without any other resorts, lodging, orcivilization nearby.
