5 Commonly Asked Questions About All-Inclusive Alaskan Fishing Trips

When you are trying to plan the trip of a lifetime, there are a lot of choices. Should you tour a foreign country? Head to the beach? Or perhaps you should try fishing in Alaska? Anyone who has been to that last destination will tell you that it’s an unforgettable vacation destination and one that everyone should experience in their lifetime.

So now that you know you should go to Alaska, the next question is where to stay and what to do while you are there. Creating an itinerary and coordinating a trip is a lot of work for anyone. That’s especially true since most Alaskan fishing destinations can leave a lot to be desired. They are little more than log cabins with basic accommodations for a roof over your head.

However, there is one place where you can find all the luxuries of an all-inclusive resort without losing the rugged appeal of the Alaskan wilderness: Pybus Point Lodge. If you’ve never heard of an all-inclusive Alaskan vacation for fishing, here are some of the most common questions people have before booking a trip.

1: What’s actually included in a Pybus Point Lodge vacation?

When we say all-inclusive, we mean it. After you land in Juneau, the rest is taken care of by our team. We’ll arrange travel by seaplane to our resort and put you up in five-star rooms. You can head out on the water for up to eight hours a day for fishing with our amazing fishing experts but that’s definitely not all. You also get:

  • Meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Daily maid service
  • Professional tackle and gear
  • Fish you catch are cleaned, vacuum sealed, and packed to take home
  • Wildlife adventures, including whale watching and bear spotting
  • Waterfall hikes and day trips
  • Glacier day trips
  • Unlimited use of skiffs and kayaks

2: What are the rooms like?

Some Alaskan fishing vacations take the idea of “roughing it” to the extreme. The accommodations leave a lot to be desired, which is fine for some. But if you want a resort-style experience in the middle of a vast and beautiful wilderness, we’ve got you covered. Every room has been recently renovated and includes:

  • Comfortable mattress and plush bedding
  • A cozy fireplace
  • Private bathrooms

We also have a common area with 24-hour snacks, games, and movies available for our guests to use.

3: Are the meals going to be something we really want to eat?

At Pybus Point Lodge we pride ourselves on serving gourmet meals from renowned chefs. We’ll create made-to-order lunches for your fishing and daily excursions, and delicious dining every evening. We have an executive chef, sous chef, and pastry chef whose entire goal is to wow you with culinary delights. Those can include your favorite comfort foods and some things you will only find in Alaska.

4: Can we do other things besides just fishing?

Absolutely, and we would encourage you to do as much as you can while you’re visiting the state. Alaska is a place of unmatched natural beauty, so you want to plan for more than just fishing out on the ocean.

An all-inclusive means everything is included, like hiking tours and glacier excursions. We also have kayaks and skiffs you can take out on the beautiful Pybus Bay to catch a glimpse of some wildlife or watch the sunset. In the evenings you can unwind with games and movies in our common area or relax in your comfortable room by the fireplace.

5: When is the best time to come?

Our resort is open May through September, and if you ask us there really is not a bad time to come and see Alaska during those months. Each one offers some different advantages, so before you decide you can think about:

  • The weather you want – Alaska’s Inside Passage doesn’t get really warm at any time during the year, but the warmest months are going to be July and August. Average daytime temperatures reach the mid- to high 60s and nighttime temperatures are in the mid-50s. If you come earlier in the year (May and early June) or later (September) you are more likely to see average day temperatures in the 50s and overnight lows in the high 40s.
  • The fish you hope to catch – The time of year that you come will dictate what fish are most plentiful, since different salmon species migrate at different times of the year. Check out our fishing calendar guide to see when your favorite fish species is going to be around.
  • The amount of daylight you want – Alaska is famous for extended daylight hours. In the Inside Passage it doesn’t stay light all night, but at certain times of the year you can definitely get more daylight. Choose a day in June or early July for the longest days.
