LEARN MOREA day at Pybus Point Lodge includes a hearty breakfast, fishing or sightseeing on calm waters, gourmet dinner, and evening activities like hikes, kayaking, or fireside relaxation—an unforgettable Alaskan adventure!
If you're eager to experience Alaska but don't know quite what to expect from a day at Pybus Point Lodge, you're in the right place. Our team gets a lot of questions about the typical daily itinerary here, so we thought we’d give you an example of what that could look like.
To give you the best chance at a great day on the waters of Alaska, we like to start each morning with a hearty breakfast. Around 7:00 am, we’ll kick off the day with coffee, eggs, bacon, potatoes, fresh fruit, baked goodies, protein drinks, and some other great breakfast options like cold cereal and oatmeal. We can’t have you fighting fish, kayaking, or hiking through the forest on an empty stomach!
At breakfast, we’ll also have some tasty sandwiches, premade salads, and hot thermoses of soup for you to take with you on the boat, as well as a wide variety of chips, snacks and candy bars. That way, you can have a full day of adventure without splitting it up to come back to the lodge for lunch.
Around 8:00, we’ll cut lines and pull away from the dock. You’ll be decked out in high-quality rain gear and deck boots from Day 1, so you can be ready for anything that comes your way.
You might want to spend the day fishing (we call it “catching” at Pybus). Or maybe you’d prefer to keep an eye out for whales breaching on your way to Baranof Warm Springs or the Sawyer Glacier.
Whether you’re a big fisherman or you’re mainly in Alaska to see the sights, we’ll tailor your trip to your group’s interests. There's no need to reserve your activities ahead of time–our excursions don’t fill up, and we like to be able to plan around the weather and changing interests.
Once you arrive back at the lodge after a full day on the water, we’re happy to take pictures of you with your catch. Our captains will fillet it for you, front and center on the docks – you’re welcome to watch the experts at work!
If you’d like to do some self-guided fishing and wildlife viewing, we have kayaks and new, jet-powered skiffs.
Dinner is around 6-7:00 pm at our lodge restaurant. We have an incredibly talented culinary team that will be happy to make a variety of meals to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters, with an additional buffet that usually has some good comfort foods. Our chefs have plenty of experience cooking for guests with dietary restrictions as well, so you’ll be in good hands.
If you’d like to eat your fish for dinner, our talented culinary team can prepare one of your catches each day and serve it to you in our restaurant. It’s cooked differently each day, so you’ll get to try several exciting recipes.
Most evenings, we’ll have activities set up for anyone who’s not ready for the day to end. That could be a rainforest hike, happy hour, a kayak trip, kids’ projects for those with youngsters, or a relaxed evening telling stories around the fire.
As you wind down from a day packed with fishing and exploration, you might roast s’mores around the fire, play darts or cornhole with other guests, or share a drink with friends while looking for bears through the spotting scopes around the property. We also have a few guitars at the lodge that you’re welcome to use. If you'd rather, you can just relax in the hot tubs or take a hot shower in your cabin. You’ve worked hard, played harder, and deserve some relaxation before heading into your next day at Pybus.
