DAY
1

Seaplane Ride to Lodge

Things to See: Tongass National Forrest, Admirality Island
Wake up bright and early to arrive at Alaska Seaplanes for your float ride plane to the lodge by 6:30AM. You will receive safety orientation before taking a scenic seaplane ride over the Tongass National Forrest. After landing at Pybus Bay, we will have breakfast ready to eat as you watch a short safety orientation video and are introduced to our friendly staff. We'll then board our new catamaran boat and be introduced to our coastguard certified captain and spend the rest of the day searching for migrating humpback whales, orca's, sea lions, sea otters, and brown bears.

*Daily itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

DAY
2

Glaciers, Icebergs, and Fjords

Things to See: Twin Sawyers Glacier, Glacial waterfalls, seals
We will have the exciting opportunity to take a scenic boat ride up to the majestic Tracy Arm Fjord to see the Twin Sawyers Glaciers. While boating up the fjord we will stop to take pictures of bright blue icebergs and have a chance to spot black bears, brown bears, and mountain goats. Once we arrive at the glaciers, have your cameras ready! Huge chunks of ice often fall off of the glaciers in a process called calving. These ice chunks create massive waves that you won't want to miss. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for seals lounging on the floating ice chunks.

On Day 4 our group will spend the day exploring a nearby lighthouse and photgraphing our amazing Alaska wildlife! We will take a boat ride over to Five Finger Lighthouse and explore one of the first lit and last manned lighthouses in Alaska. We'll also visit a nearby sea lion rookery and watch as they bask in the sunshine before plopping into the water to grab some food. We'll then head over to a nearby secluded bay to photograph brown bears emerging from hibernation to graze on nutritious grasses. We'll finish this incredible day by hiking out on a nearby trail through our temperate rainforest to see the numerous majestic bald eagles that make our nearby trees their home.

Hot Springs, Rainforest Hike, and Waterfalls

Things to See: Hidden waterfalls, Alaska Floral and Fauna
Today begins with a scenic boat ride over to Baranof island to soak in the mineral rich natural hot springs near the shore of Baranof River. After a soak, we'll take a guided hike through the local rain forrest up to Baranof Lake while stopping to see the local flora and fauna and munching on natural berries that grow along the hiking trail. After eating lunch we'll boat over the massive 600 foot tall Red Bluff Falls and visit other local waterfalls that are a photographers dream!

DAY
5

Whale Watching and Deep Sea Fishing

Things to See: Humpback whales, Orca’s, Fish
Our last full day will be spent out on our private boat searching for migrating humpback whales! Southeast Alaska is home to one of the most concentrated populations of humpback whales that come to Alaska to feed it in their rich feeding waters. While we most likely will see whales during the duration of our trip, this day will spent trying to find them breaching, pectoral fin slapping, and possibly bubble net feeding! After whale watching, we will pull out the rods and reels and give our group an opportunity to fish the famous waters of Southeast Alaska. Our captain will keep us on the fish – halibut, five species of salmon, rockfish, yelloweye, ling cod, and more!

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

Humpback Whales

The calm, cool waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage are the perfect habitat for humpback whales. Our guests tell us close encounters with these peaceful giants have changed the way they see the world – and we know just what they mean.

Icebergs and Glaciers

Feeling adventurous? Spend a day exploring the famous Tracy Arm Fjord. You’ll see seals playing among beautiful blue icebergs as you make your way to a huge glacier less than 10 miles from the Canadian border.

Fortress of the Bears

You’ll stay with us on Admiralty Island, called Kootznoowoo by native Tlingit people, which means “Fortress of the Bears.” There are more bears on our island than in all 49 other states combined – and more than 2.5x the number of people here!

Beauty After Dark

If your timing is lucky, you’ll be able to watch the northern lights put on a show from your private balcony overlooking the water. If the aurora aren’t on show, gaze up at the infinite night sky – or walk to the shore and be amazed by the phosphorescent algae that live in the cold waters of Pybus Bay.

Stunning Waterfalls

A short ride in one of our skiffs will take you to the mouth of a river where, if your timing is right, you can watch salmon make their final run to spawn. When it isn’t overrun by bears dining on the feast, you can walk upstream just a few minutes to a beautiful waterfall in the thick forest.
