With floating pieces of ice ranging from small ice-cubes to large three-story buildings you will see the power of nature first-hand. Wales, harbor seals, orcas and mountain goats are often the highlights of the trip, in addition to catching a few more halibut or rock fish on the way back to the lodge for another amazing evening, including an exclusive concert by Steve Nelson of the Piano Guys!

Waterfalls and Deep Sea Fishing

Things to See: Alaska Inner Passage, Waterfalls, and Fish!
It is said that everything is bigger in Alaska, and when it comes to waterfalls that is certainly true. After fishing or whale watching in the morning, your captain will take you to one of the best waterfalls in Alaska. Known as Red Bluff Fall’s, this 600’ waterfall is also only accessible by boat or plane. Or choose a ½ day kayak trip and rainforest hike for a more close-up Alaskan Experience. After dinner, join us at the firepit for an informal Q&A with Steve Nelson – with S’mores of course.

Hot Springs, Rainforest Hike, and Waterfalls

Things to See: Hidden waterfalls, Alaska Floral and Fauna
At this point you have worked hard, and played harder, and deserve a little relaxation. After another short fishing adventure for halibut or salmon, our boats will head toward one of the real hidden gems in the area. The Baranof Warm Springs are a series of natural springs situated next to raging river. With pools reaching as high as 120 degrees (and many much cooler), it’s a perfect place to relax and think about your amazing time in Alaska. A short walk from the warm springs there is also a beautiful mountain lake which is great for photos and reflection. Evening activities include an awards presentation and video preview of a highlight video of your trip that is yours to keep.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

Humpback Whales

The calm, cool waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage are the perfect habitat for humpback whales. Our guests tell us close encounters with these peaceful giants have changed the way they see the world – and we know just what they mean.

Icebergs and Glaciers

Feeling adventurous? Spend a day exploring the famous Tracy Arm Fjord. You’ll see seals playing among beautiful blue icebergs as you make your way to a huge glacier less than 10 miles from the Canadian border.

Fortress of the Bears

You’ll stay with us on Admiralty Island, called Kootznoowoo by native Tlingit people, which means “Fortress of the Bears.” There are more bears on our island than in all 49 other states combined – and more than 2.5x the number of people here!

Beauty After Dark

If your timing is lucky, you’ll be able to watch the northern lights put on a show from your private balcony overlooking the water. If the aurora aren’t on show, gaze up at the infinite night sky – or walk to the shore and be amazed by the phosphorescent algae that live in the cold waters of Pybus Bay.

Stunning Waterfalls

A short ride in one of our skiffs will take you to the mouth of a river where, if your timing is right, you can watch salmon make their final run to spawn. When it isn’t overrun by bears dining on the feast, you can walk upstream just a few minutes to a beautiful waterfall in the thick forest.
