Every guest who visits Pybus Point Lodge will be provided with their own full-time adventure guide! Throughout the duration of your entire trip, your expert guide will be available to take you fishing and sightseeing whenever you like–as long as the weather allows for a safe journey. Before you arrive, we’ll ask you to fill out a short questionnaire so we can hand select the perfect guide for your groups based on your unique personalities and ideal itinerary.

Some of our returning guests prefer to have the same captain each time, while others like to fish with someone new each trip. We always do our best to accommodate requests for specific captains, but with all the moving parts of a fishing and adventure lodge we can’t guarantee that we can always pair you with your first choice of guide. We can however guarantee that you’ll always have a guide that will work their hardest to give you the best possible experience.
No matter who your guide is, you can count on spending your vacation with a deeply knowledgeable and passionate professional on a small, custom-built, luxury boat. This is an experience you won’t want to pass up! Most folks who visit Alaska only view the state’s incredible wildlife and natural beauty from the deck of a massive cruise ship, which frankly can get in the way of the experience.
From the decks of our boats you’ll be able to get up close to a wide variety of wildlife, like humpback whales, orcas, and sea lions and be able to explore areas that cruise ships can’t reach, like the majestic Tracy Arm Fjord. And of course, each guide is an expert fisherman and has everything they need to help you catch halibut, salmon, ling cod, rockfish, and more!
All guides at Pybus Point Point lodge are thoroughly qualified to keep you and your group safe throughout the course of your vacation. Pybus Point Lodge guides are all licensed boat captains with the United States Coast Guard and licensed fishing guides with the state of Alaska. There’s no need to worry while on vacation, each and every Pybus Point Lodge guide is fully trained to keep you safe while you explore Alaska.

And our guides aren’t simply boat captains, they’re all accomplished fishermen who’ve spent years–decades even–becoming masters of their trade. All of them are experts at finding and catching a wide range of species in the unique waters of southeast Alaska. Whether you’re a fishing rookie or a hardened Alaska veteran our guides have the knowledge and professional skill-set required to help you have the Alaska fishing experience that you’ve always dreamed of.
While staying at Pybus, you’ll have the opportunity to fish as much as you’d like. Your guide will be available to fish with you every day from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, that’s eight full hours of guided fishing in Alaska. While on the boat you have the freedom to target any (legal) species that live in the region. On full day fishing trips there’s usually time to target three or four different species, just let your guide know what you’re after and he’ll do the rest! To top it all off, at the end of every day your kind will filet every fish you catch, free of any additional charge and turn the filets over to our dock team who will filet, rinse, vacuum seal, and freeze your fish. At Pybus Point Lodge, it really is all-included!
Don’t feel like fishing all day? No problem! Thanks to our unique location, we offer more wildlife tours and outdoor activities than you could possibly squeeze into one vacation, and your private guide is here to help you cross as many adventures off of your to-do list as possible.
Two of our most popular activities are the Sawyer Glacier day trip and Baranof Warm Springs excursion, and your full-time guide is available to take you to either of these unbelievable sites whenever you like (weather permitting). Both of these options are great for groups who are looking to see something truly unique while visiting Alaska.
The Sawyer Glacier is incredible in its own right, but many of our guests say that the journey to the glacier is even more stunning than the glacier itself. The glacier is located deep within the Tracy Arm Fjord, a shocking glacially carved canyon full of scenic waterfalls, icebergs, seals, and more!
The Warm Springs are naturally occurring pools nestled on the side of the raging Baranof River. While visiting the springs, you can also hike to the unbelievably clear Baranof Lake, a huge body of glacial water surrounded by gorgeous mountains.
In addition to these two activities, our guides are also available to take you whale watching, sea lion spotting, or to see secluded glacial waterfalls cascade from high above; and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
In addition to our team of boat captains, we also have a full-time adventure guide who can take you out for all sorts of non-boating related excursions. Rainforest hikes, kayak tours, and water skiing are just a few of our favorite activities! We even offer exciting kid friendly activities like a scavenger hunt, gold panning, and shell painting.

Incredible Experience!
Pybus Point Lodge has some of the most stunning scenery I’ve ever seen. I mean absolutely breathtaking! In addition to the amazing fishing, I hiked to a beautiful secluded lake, soaked in some hot pots, saw several waterfalls, went whale watching, saw bears and all kinds of wildlife and marine life. As a photographer, photographing a wedding under a waterfall will remain a highlight of my life.

We had the best time! This was our first visit to Pybus, but it definitely will not be our last. Wonderful and Magical Place
We had an amazing business retreat to Pybus Point Lodge. Everything was top notch... the fishing, the staff, the boat captains, the food, the accommodations, and especially the scenery. I really liked that Pybus took care of everything from start to finish. Chef John is an amazing cook. We had delicious hot meals the entire trip. The cabins were amazing and very comfortable. The fishing was awesome and that’s coming from a guy that doesn’t fish that much.

My wife and I spent a week at Pybus Point this Summer. We had a beautiful, private room overlooking the bay and our own new, ensuite, private bathroom. What an amazing place for couples to get away together. We set our own breakfast time, met our boat captain after, fished the day along, and returned to clean up and enjoy a nice dinner at the restaurant. Next time Alaska is on the trip list, Sherrie and I will go together, and it will be to Pybus Point!

Fun in Alaska
This was my first trip to Pybus Point. I stayed in one of their new cabins. The accommodations were incredible, the view onto the bay in the mornings was stunning. I loved the staff and the food was really very good. All of this and they have new boats to take you out onto fairly calm waters to fish. The fishing guides were great. Overall a great experience. Definitely going back.
